Lesson 9 - Shopping

buck = dollar 區區的幾元常會用bucks

鞋子的種類

dress/tie shoes: 需綁鞋帶的

loafers: 直接把腳套進去的

buckle shoes: 有釦子的 (或說shoes with a buckle)

flats: 平底

上衣、外套的說法

hooded T-shirt: 有帽子的T-shirt

jacket / hoodie: 有帽子的夾克

jacket / blazer [more casual suit]: 有拉鍊的夾克

sweat shirt (hoodie): 沒拉鍊的厚T(連帽的)

長版的外套就叫coat

pajamas = PJS

sports shirt = tank top 背心

overalls: 吊帶裙or褲

Lesson 10 - At a Restaurant

每餐的說法：breakfast → brunch → lunch → linner → lunch → supper

Lemonade is different from lemon juice.

lemonade放比較多的糖；lemon juice比較酸

bun: 圓麵包；包子類統稱。 肉包：meat bun

crackers: 薄脆餅乾；像蘇打餅那類的

剛出爐的→ fresh out of the oven

Lesson 11 - Visiting in Someone's Home

Phrases & 一些打招呼的用語

In a blue moon

In a million years

In a dog's age = long time no see 比較南方的說法

前面幾句似for a long time可接於 I haven't seen you

Looking chipper 形容某人看起來不錯；較英式的說法 

What have you been doing to occupy your time? 很正式的用法

Where are you been hiding yourself? → silly expression但很好用

What have you been up to?

How's it going?

道地特別的發音

I'll take them.  In true American, take off "th" of them.

這邊是說美國人在講這句話時，會把th的音去掉

comfortable 通常我們會唸四個音節 com‧for‧ta‧ble

美國人會念comf‧ta‧ble

Lesson 12 - Sharing Recipes

很多、一些、一點點 → 可數many, few, a few；不可數much, little, a little

more 可用在不可數

cake, pie 屬不可數的。fench fries屬可數的

cookie sheet (A.E.) = baking sheet (B.E.) 烤盤，英式跟美式的說法

coffee grinder: 咖啡豆研磨機

ice tray: 冰塊的模型

juicer: 果汁機

wok: 炒菜鍋
